Messages in Media are Incredible
Today in media, children, and human development, a clip from The Incredibles was shown. I have always loved The Incredibles. I think it is great movie. The clip that was shown was when Mrs. Incredible tells her kids to be safe and for Violet and Dash to remember that the bad guys who are coming for them are not like the ones in TV shows. We discussed this clip and what we thought it meant. Though I am not sure that this clip was intended to mean anything more than the surface meaning. I loved how in class, we were able to relate it to other parts of life. For instance, we related the last comment "to keep each other safe" as a metaphor for families to protect each other from bad media and anything else bad entering our homes. It is always fun to relate different sayings and movies to true principles and take what is being said and analyze it to relate the different parts of life.
We can learn so much by in depth analysis and conversations about what goes on around us. By relating different things to our life and drawing meaning out of everything in life, we can find so much more meaning and so much more to learn within ourselves.
